ItuString+ ceiling radiators in industrial and logistics facilities
References include Valtra Inc.’s 10,000 m² logistics center in Suolahti, the huge over 200,000 m² SOK’s Sipoo logistics center, the largest covered building in Finland, the Metsä Board factory, the ATS–Professional Tools facilities and several other projects. In these locations, ItuString+® has brought even heat and significant energy savings to demanding spaces.
Ceiling radiators save energy regardless of the conditions
Ceiling panels that operate using the radiation method heat the surfaces of the space, not the air. Therefore, the thermal radiation feels pleasant on the skin for people in the space, even though the air temperature is actually lower. For example, if the air temperature in the room is 18⁰C, radiant heating panels make it feel like 21⁰C. This allows optimal conditions to be achieved despite the lower temperature in the premises and at the same time saves energy. Especially in large halls and industrial production facilities, the radiant method can bring up to 40% energy savings compared to traditionally used circulating air fan or radiator systems. The system maintains optimal conditions effectively in halls up to 30 meters high.
A fast-reacting system is optimal in changing conditions
The advantage of radiant heaters is their fast and efficient response to heat loads generated by production or equipment. The conditions in the premises thus remain optimal even in locations where temperatures can vary rapidly.
Can be used for various heating and cooling needs
The radiant method makes it possible to heat the object in an energy-efficient manner without heating the surrounding air. In semi-warm locations where heating the entire space is not necessary or possible, radiators can be used to effectively control the temperature of a specific area.
One example of such a solution is a floor defrosting system implemented in an industrial cold loading hall. In this case, radiators installed on the ceiling keep the floor of the truck line above freezing all year round. Read more about the Metsä Board project we implemented.
Excellent in clean rooms and locations with critical air quality
In production facilities that require special cleanliness, the absence of dust and precisely controlled air humidity pose challenges for heating and cooling systems. Air heating with traditional systems causes air movement, which carries impurities with it. Heating or cooling the premises with the radiant method does not affect the air movement in the production space, and the panel system does not have additional surfaces that collect dust.
More comfortable working environments
In addition to the fact that radiant heating feels pleasant on the skin, air-free heating and cooling provides even more comfortable conditions for employees. For example, in particularly dusty conditions, the system does not cause additional air movement that would carry dust around the room. The system saves on cleaning costs and frees up resources for essential tasks. No draft and noise are generated, which in addition to the pleasant radiant heat, further improves working conditions.
